Hazelnut paste is a semi-finished product obtained by roasting and finely grinding hazelnuts until a smooth, fluid cream is formed by the natural oil of the fruit. Elenka S.p.A. was founded in Palermo in 1959 by Antonino Galvagno, born as a laboratory of distillates and essences and soon specialising in semi-finished products for gelato. Over the decades Elenka became an ambassador of Made in Italy, present in more than 60 countries, and its La Nocciola and OroVerde pistachio pastes are benchmarks for artisan gelato. The Laurus paste is produced and packed by Elenka in Palermo, Sicily. It reaches LAPA through the Italian distributor Innovaction S.r.l. of Ragusa.

The Laurus line is the darkest, most intense of the La Nocciola family. The pushed roasting produces a robust, full-bodied flavour with toasted and lightly bitter nuances and a deep brown colour.
