Orgeat Almond Syrup Giffard 1 L
Orgeat Almond Syrup Giffard 1 L is the benchmark French orgeat for professional bars and pastry kitchens. Produced in Angers by the Giffard family from a recipe that dates back to 1910, it is made with sugar, water and natural almond flavouring, with no added preservatives. The result is a creamy, off-white syrup with the deep, toasted-almond aroma that defines an authentic orgeat and that artificial almond syrups cannot reproduce.
What orgeat is
Orgeat is a sweet, milky almond syrup with a long history in European confectionery and, later, in classic and tiki mixology. Originally an almond-and-barley emulsion, the modern version is built on almonds and sugar. It is the signature sweetener of several landmark cocktails and a versatile flavouring for hot and cold drinks alike.
The producer: Giffard
Giffard was founded in 1885 in Angers, in the Loire Valley, by the pharmacist Emile Giffard. Still family-owned today, the house is one of the most respected syrup and liqueur producers in France, known for natural ingredients and a craft approach passed down across generations. Its orgeat recipe has been refined since 1910.
Tasting profile
The syrup pours thick and creamy with an ivory, coconut-cream colour. On the palate it is sweet and round, dominated by warm toasted almond, with a clean finish and no harsh artificial edge. It blends seamlessly into both spirit-forward and refreshing drinks.

Professional uses
Orgeat is essential behind the bar: 15 to 30 ml build the backbone of a Mai Tai, the Japanese Cocktail and a wide range of tiki and signature serves. Beyond cocktails it sweetens and perfumes espresso and milk-based coffee, milkshakes, iced lattes, lemonades and homemade horchata-style drinks, and it flavours creams, glazes and sponge soaks in the pastry kitchen.
Pairings
Almond syrup pairs naturally with white and aged rum, brandy and Cognac, citrus juices, coffee and chocolate. It is a reliable companion to other Giffard syrups and to the spirits and mixers used across professional drinks lists.
