What Are the Cake Side Strips?
The Gold/White Cake Side Strips are single-use strips of laminated paperboard, 4 cm high and 75 cm long, with a gold film on one side and a white film on the other. They are food-contact safe and supplied in professional cases of 10 kg. Unlike a cake board, which goes under the cake, these strips wrap around the side of the dessert.
What They Are For
The strips are applied around the side of a cake to finish and protect the edges. They hold creams, mousses and glazes in place while the dessert sets, keep the cake's shape clean and give a neat, decorative border. They can be cut to the exact length needed for each cake.
Professional Uses
- Finishing the side of layer cakes, mousse cakes and entremets.
- Holding soft fillings and glazes in shape while setting.
- Decorative gold or white border for display and celebration cakes.
- Protecting the cake edge during transport and take-away.
Gold or White: Two Looks
The strip is gold on one side and white on the other, so the same reference covers two styles. The gold finish suits festive and celebration cakes, while the white finish gives a clean, modern look for contemporary patisserie.
Storage and Handling
Store the strips flat in a dry place away from heat and humidity to keep them rigid and free of warping. This is a presentation and finishing material, not a cooking tool, so it should never be placed in an oven or in direct contact with heat sources.
