Edible A4 Wafer Paper Sheets by Floreal
Floreal edible wafer paper sheets are A4 food-grade sheets, 0.6 mm thick, supplied in boxes of 100 pieces and dedicated to food printing and cake decoration. Made from potato starch, water, sunflower oil and maltodextrin, they are gluten free, sugar free (0 g per 100 g) and GMO free, ready to carry photos, lettering and logos printed with edible-ink food printers directly onto cakes, pastries and desserts.
What edible wafer paper is
Wafer paper (also called edible paper or rice paper in pastry jargon) is a thin, neutral-tasting edible sheet used to transfer printed images onto sweet creations. The Floreal A4 sheet in DD quality is calibrated to a uniform 0.6 mm thickness so it feeds smoothly through dedicated food printers and lies flat on the dessert surface without curling.
The producer: Floreal
Floreal was founded in Milan in 1961 and has been an Italian benchmark in pastry decoration for over sixty years, working sugar, pastillage, wafer and chocolate. The Assago (Milan) facility manufactures these A4 wafer sheets to a consistent food-grade standard, combining Italian craftsmanship with family values and continuous product innovation.
Technical characteristics
Each sheet measures A4 with a thickness of 0.6 mm. Ingredients: potato starch, water, sunflower oil and maltodextrin. The product is free from the 14 EU declarable allergens and is GMO free. Average nutritional values per 100 g: 366 kcal / 1543 kJ, carbohydrates 86.9 g (of which sugars 0 g), protein 0.1 g, fat 2.7 g (of which saturates 0.3 g), salt 0.1 g.
Professional uses
Print high-resolution photos and logos with edible inks for personalised birthday, wedding and corporate cakes; cut the sheet to size to top petits fours, mignon pastries, cupcakes and decorated biscuits; apply the printed sheet onto a smooth base of royal icing, stabilised cream or rolled fondant for a flawless finish. For best adhesion, work on a dry, even surface and press gently to avoid air bubbles. Brush a very thin film of neutral syrup only if extra grip is needed.
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not store the sheets in a damp place: above 75% humidity the wafer softens and the print bleeds. Do not apply onto wet or greasy surfaces, which dissolve the wafer. Do not refrigerate printed sheets uncovered, as condensation ruins the image.
Pairings and complementary products
Combine with edible food colours for airbrush retouching, neutral glaze to seal and protect the finished decoration, and quality cocoa or pistachio toppings to frame the wafer image on the cake.
